Fixing overfilled or botched lips
Hyaluronic acid is reversible, which makes most problems correctable.

One of the reassuring aspects of hyaluronic acid lip filler is that problems are usually correctable, and understanding how overfilled or poorly done lips are fixed relieves a common fear.
The key fact is that hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme (hyaluronidase) injected into the area, which breaks it down within a day or two. This means overfilled lips, lumps, asymmetry, filler placed in the wrong position, or migration of product beyond the lip border can be corrected by dissolving the filler, fully or selectively, and, if desired, re-treating more conservatively afterward. Migration, where filler spreads above the lip border creating a shelf or puffiness, is a common complaint from overfilling or poor technique, and dissolving addresses it.
This reversibility is a major safety advantage of hyaluronic acid over permanent options. The practical message for someone unhappy with their lips is that they are very likely fixable, an experienced injector can dissolve and reset. It is also a reason to choose hyaluronic acid filler over permanent fillers or, in inexperienced hands, fat, which cannot simply be dissolved. For prevention, choosing a skilled, conservative injector from the start avoids the problem, but for those already overfilled or unhappy, the reassurance is real: dissolving and starting fresh is straightforward. The era of being stuck with botched lips for months has largely passed, thanks to the reversibility of modern hyaluronic acid filler in capable hands.
